At ReClif, we believe that many on the autism spectrum exhibit signs of apraxia. The official definition of apraxia is a disorder of the brain and nervous system in which a person is unable to perform tasks or movements when asked, even though 1) the request or command is understood, 2) the individual is willing to perform the task, and 3) the muscles needed to perform the task work properly. By working individually with each client on purposeful movement through consistent practice, motor skills improve and achieving synchrony between the brain and body can occur.
